this now 40, part 5

“Who’s joining you?”

So glad you asked <3

Her name is Marcie and she is precious. She, like most dogs, will be a tangible gift of God's goodness in the way dogs often are. Loving unconditionally, 24/7. Granted the early days of training will be that, training. This time the children are “on board” to help participate in the training (hopefully they are on the same night-train I’m on, haha). A new dog to help Hurely along in his old age has been their relentless “ask” for the past 2 years. I believe she’ll be just like our Hurley, be loved on all day and love us all day, every day.

Over the past two years we’ve been open and ready to receive a new dog. We’ve been intentional in doing “our part” asking, seeking, but not moving forward without peace and confirmation. When the opportunity around this litter was brought to our attention Ryan and I sat with it a little longer and in that time we knew, as per a gifted Spirit whisper, receive this gift as a part of My tangible goodness. Well, okay then! The icing around God bringing about this “being the time” is, Audrey, our soon to be 16 year old has had “a go” like the rest of us during these days of COVID. Everything which had made this year so special and set-apart for her was cancelled. Her wonderful drama production two weeks before curtain call, cancelled. As a family we had planned for the first time a trip (“a real vacation” the kids called it) to Florida late May/early June, cancelled.  The “one” birthday she’s waited for since she was a little peanut and the super-duper specialness which was planned for it (a weekend with Ryan and I in NYC and seeing a Broadway show) obviously, also cancelled. Audrey has navigated these days of disappointment with such grace and peace. Throughout these days I would look upon her and my heart would sigh but it also praised Jesus because we, as a family have learned to know and now live according to this truth... no matter what Jesus IS with us loving us individually and completely! Learning to LIVE in these changes is for our good, it is for His good. So when the opportunity at this time came for this new fur-baby to join our family just days her 16th birthday, we celebrated and committed to receiving an extra measure of God’s goodness.

If we only knew what this precious new little girl was actually bringing… we may have been tempted to ignore the Spirits whisper to receive this little one as a gift of His tangible goodness.
