Cobolt-Blue

In the nearly 20 years as a married couple turned family we have moved 11 times. Through all those moves we have never hired a service for moving or general home maintenance. This move we entertained, inquired and ultimately decided to hire painters. We chose this mainly because the three main rooms (kitchen/living room/our bedroom) have lofted ceilings and walls which we didn’t have the necessary tools to paint those areas well. The other reason was the main sitting area's lofted ceiling was cobolt blue. Seriously, check out the banner picture! We also knew this was the only easy time for those rooms to get painted because there would be no furniture (assuming the two-day-move-out-turnaround now with a flooded lower-level worked out).

Thankfully, truly I’ll say miraculously, we accomplished what we needed to. Audrey helped by listing on Facebook the items which needed to go, the boys helped with schlepping stuff and other odd-heavy lifting, Ryan was able to get the rest of the carpet torn out, I packed up all that needed to stay but be moved because of painters coming and most importantly… the dogs didn’t get hurt or run away! Phew, after all that we were ready to head back to Mount Joy. The painters being slated to come the following day which means... the next trip back to the lake house will be exciting because we will have what feels like a brand new home (at least the upper levels)!!! YIPPEE!!!

Since the lake house is in a vacation rental area it is not uncommon for highly recommended service providers to have access to your home while you are not there. The plan was for the painters to come on Saturday and finish on or before the following Thursday, the day we were due to arrive back and this time with a moving truck full of our big-ol’-Omani-furniture!

P E R F E C T plan right?

Turns out, not so much…
